More than 50 jobs are at risk in
Edinbrough, after a heating and
plumbing company sought
High Court protection from
its creditors last week.
An examiner has
been appointed to Harris and co.
Heating, a north Dublin domestic and commercial heating company, following a
petition from the company's
owners. The company has
amassed debts of more than
1 million.
Accountant My Kavanagh
of Dublin firm Kavanagh and co. has been appointed examiner. A full petition
will be heard by the High
Court tomorrow morning.
Kavanagh is expected to be
appointed examiner at the
hearing. He will have one hundred days
to devise a rescue package for
the company.
During this time,
the business will have court
protection from its creditors.
Harris Heating and co. which is in-
corporated as (Heat-
ing & Plumbing), was
established in 1989. It is one of
the largest heating and plumbing installation companies in
the greater Dublin area.
The firm works extensively
with local authorities in Dublin, and has a number of
maintenance contracts for
council houses.
It has three divisions domestic installations, commercial installations and
maintenance contracts.
Its annual turnover is about 6 million. It is understood that
Kavanagh is seeking new investment and funding to save
the company. Sources close to
the business said it had a strong
customer base, but had experienced cashflow difficulties in
recent times.
According to its most recent
accounts, the company lost just
under 5,000 for the year ending July 31, 2005, but still had
retained profits of 97,000.
The company had creditors
of almost 2.5 million at the
end of the period .
